Song of Solomon 1:15 says, “Behold, you are fair, My love! Behold, you are fair! You have dove’s eyes.”
This verse is probably one of the most amazing verses in the Bible. It never stops to amaze me. God is eternal, great, and unfathomable. I am a sinner, small, problematic and mortal. And out of all He’s created – angels, planets, stars – the only ones He’s chosen to bring near are human beings. He calls me “My love!” I am the great partner of the one who is an Eternal Flame!
And He says I have dove’s eyes. Doves only mate with one partner their entire lives. Once a partner dies, a dove will never seek another. Moreover, they have no peripheral vision. He tells me my gaze is set on Him. He says I’m faithful. I don’t feel faithful at times, and I stumble. But He’s seen my heart’s desire and He’s called me faithful. You, God, have told me I have no peripheral vision. I feel so safe around You. You’re so kind. I run to Your arms again today.
